I started playing the piano at a young age, but I only began taking it seriously around 15, inspired by friends at school and church. In those early days, I was captivated by piano covers of anime songs from creators such as Animenz and Theishter.
My first performances were on the church stage, where I occasionally filled in when the main pianist was unavailable. Over time, playing at church shaped my sound and style. As a completely self-taught musician, I drew inspiration from wherever I could find it. The church and my mentors there played a large part in my growth. It was also where I first picked up the guitar and learned to play the drums.
Around the same time, I began exploring audio engineering and regularly mixed Sunday services for both live and online audiences. During the COVID period, the church invested more in digital media, giving me the opportunity to learn more about music production. My interest in production hardware and software allowed me to help upgrade the church’s digital infrastructure. I also designed and helped set up a studio for a friend.
The next phase of my musical journey began when I joined the university band during my undergraduate studies. There, I performed with like-minded musicians in front of larger audiences and was introduced to instruments such as the electric guitar, bass guitar, and flute. I eventually became Vice Chairperson of the band, which gave me experience in leadership and in guiding practice and jam sessions. It was also during this time that I began posting song covers on Instagram.
After completing my undergraduate degree, I returned to playing and mixing at church. Another chapter began during my master’s at IIT Delhi, where I joined the music club and performed with some incredibly talented musicians at a range of venues. One of the highlights was the Inter-IIT Cultural Meet, where I played keys and mixed the live performances for my contingent. I also worked on several music cover projects, which are available on my Instagram page.
Most importantly, I produced my first original single, “Persephone,” which is available on all major platforms.
Music has always been close to my heart. It gives me a way to express feelings and emotions that I might otherwise struggle to put into words. My musical taste spans almost every genre, except hip-hop. Sorry, hip-hop fans. I have a particular fondness for orchestral music and metal.
